Hi, tumblr. My name is Rory.

Last night, one of my best friends in the whole world tried to kill herself. She’s okay now, she’s in the hospital, but I need to get to her, because she’s in a really tough place right now, and I just… need to see her, to to help her maybe just feel happy again, if I can. To remind her how much we all love her and how much beauty there is in the world, so this never happens again. 

The problem is, I live in Massachusetts, she lives in Toronto. I’m a broke college student. I don’t have anywhere near the cash.

EDIT: Going to use the Greyhound bus instead of plane, it’s much less expensive, so I can get by on less. 

This is where I ask for your assistance. 

Please, if you can spare even a dollar, five dollars, anything, it can help me get to her. She means the world to me. 

I need to raise somewhere in the area of five to six hundred dollars to cover everything, even if I get the cheapest possible fare available in the next few weeks, and I only have two hundred at best, including the donations I already received yesterday.

Ugandan John Ochola, 25, responds by telling his story. He was abducted by rebels from his village, Namkora in northern Uganda, which was attacked in February 2002. During the attack 50 people were axed to death and he was one of 35 abductees.

The rebels John was mutilated and abducted by are part of the LRA, the Lord’s Resistance Army. This army, which abducts children and forces them to fight, is led by Joseph Kony. 

This conflict has been going on for 26 years and the general public has no idea.

Hi, I’m in a situation I never thought I would be in. I currently live with my brother and sister in law but am moving out to Connecticut due to them separating. Their separation has become violent and warranted two visits from the police tonight alone. I’m moving in with my dad, but I can’t take my cat with me.

He’s a very sweet cat. His name is Howell, he’s a domestic gray shorthaired cat, and he’s about 2 years old. He was rescued from a hurricane as a kitten and has been passed from hand to hand since then. At the time I got him I was in a stable situation and wanted very much to give him a happy, permanent home, but the situation has deteriorated and I just want him to be in a good place where he’ll be fed and loved and cared for instead of in a shelter.

Howell is neutered and is up to date on all of his shots. The only medical condition he has is a skin condition where he needs to be bathed once a month. He’s very good ab being bathed, but he will try to escape the tub if you give him the chance. He is litterbox trained.

He’s a very cute and very playful cat, but he does nip and claw sometimes. As is expected from such a young cat who has never really had a permanent home, he’s kind of undisciplined. I was working on getting him to stop clawing the curtains and he was doing fairly well on that.

He does well with small dogs once he gets used to them and he loves to play with them, but he never got used to my large husky/border collie mix dog, so I’d warn away from big dogs.

I can give you a scratching post, an emery cat board (he doesn’t like it, but I keep hoping he’ll use it), a litterbox, two food/water trays, a bag and a half of food, enough litter to fill his litterbox one more time, plenty of toys (including a laser pointer, ooo), some treats, a bag of vitamins, his shampoo, and a mat to put under the food and a mat to put in front of the litterbox. He sleeps on my bed with me so he doesn’t have a cat bed.

Please, if you can take him in, call me at 910-734-2726. I will have to coordinate with my sister in law, because I don’t know if she wants to keep him, but she wants to keep the dog and chances are she’d forget to feed him and the dog might hurt him, so I want to be able to have a house for him set up so he can be nice and safe. If you could pass this post around, too, I’d be very grateful.

I really wish I didn’t have to give up my cat, I love him so much, but I have no other choice. Please help me find a good home for him.
